I’ve been performing since I was in elementary school and have been passionate about playing music ever since. I began booking myself and other musicians while in grad school, and fell in love with the booking process. I’m proud because I’ve been able to support myself and others with music, and it’s become my mission to empower other musicians to be able to do the same.
I want to make your experience exceptional and help you see your own power to take control of your music career and life. You have the power to get paid what you’re worth and Fulltime Music Academy gives me the ability to provide you with marketing and business knowledge to do so
Jared was in the middle of his graduate degree in Orchestra Conducting at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was eagerly anticipating a successful career as a professional musician, the one his teachers promised him and the one his friends were also pursuing.
As months went by, he lost several auditions and wound up taking jobs in semi-professional orchestras and musical theater pits that were paying less than minimum wage. On some of his gigs, he would spend more on gas than he made for the entire gig.
Jared joined a club at his college that showed him how to treat his music career as a business. Through their guidance, he discovered that there were thousands of high-paying gigs happening in his city. He had no clue how to get access to these gigs, but the seed was planted that if he could play enough of these gigs, they could add up to a full-time living as a musician. (And he wouldn’t have to take any more auditions).
While serving as an administrative assistant at an opera festival in Princeton, NJ, Jared launched his gigging act. He called it “Dream City Strings”, a play on Milwaukee’s nickname “Cream City.” He decided that he was going to target high-paying gig type: weddings, corporate events and non-profit events. Within a few short weeks of launching Dream City Strings, he booked his first ever high-paying gig.
After refining his marketing process, his group booked over 6-figures in a single year. This achievement became known as “The Major 6th Club.” To manage a busy gigging act, he dusted off an old coding textbook and built the first version of BookLive. Around this time, one of his friends in New York asked for help replicating the success of Dream City Strings and Jared taught the very first version of what became the Fulltime Music Method. He let his friend be one of the first bandleaders to use BookLive. She immediately booked several wedding using the Fulltime Music Method and BookLive. Her success proved that the process worked.
After the devastation of COVID-19, Jared realized two things: private events were coming back in full-force, and musicians were some of the hardest-hit financially by the pandemic. He created Fulltime Music Academy as a way to show musicians how to take advantage of the high-paying private event opportunities with a step-by-step process and an easy-to-use software tool
You might be thinking that you can’t do this. That it’s impossible to learn marketing skills and apply it to your music. Or that your music just isn’t a good fit for high-paying gigs.
Let me tell you, after helping hundreds of musicians of all genres, instruments, ages, experience levels, we are not all that different. You’ve spent so much time creating your musical product - and all products need to be marketed. But marketing really isn’t that difficult – if you can see exactly what steps you need to take.
There is no secret sauce, there is no hack. There are only fundamentals, concepts and systems. Similar to the fundamentals you learned when you first started playing music; once you learn the fundamentals of marketing your music, your music career will truly sing.
