Fulltime Musicians is a movement of musicians who believe in taking control of their music careers.
We book our own high-paying shows and say NO to opportunities that aren't worth our time.
We are bandleaders, soloists, and colleagues. Together we are building a stronger music industry.
We all know what the traditional music industry tells you to do to be successful: record a hit song, win an audition, play tons of low-paying performances in hopes of being “picked up.” There’s certainly nothing wrong with following these steps. But not everyone is going to record a hit song, win an audition, or be picked up. Sometimes, life has other plans.
Fulltime Musicians believe there are many paths to success as a musician, and your path is unique. It’s totally possible to make a full-time living as a performer without winning a record deal, or securing a spot in a professional orchestra. Here’s the thing: you don’t have to follow the traditional paths laid out by the industry. And with our programs, we can make your vision a reality.
Our Music Serves Others
We believe that live music is a beautiful art form that has the power to create emotions and memories. We understand how valuable this superpower is, and we understand that we will be compensated in direct proportion to our ability to not only use it but also market and sell it.
We Take Extreme Ownership
Our progress is our responsibility. And everything that happens (both good and bad) is our fault. This empowers us because we can identify our weaknesses and improve. We make decisions quickly and change them slowly.
We Take Care Of Ourselves First
We believe that you can’t set yourself on fire to keep others warm. Our ability to serve others (musicians and audiences) is directly impacted by our own self-care. This is why we believe in personal development and financial health.
We Invest In Our Growth
We believe that as individuals, we don’t have all the answers. We know that we can learn an incredible amount from coaches and mentors – and some of the key lessons we need come from outside the world of musicianship and technical achievement. We invest our time and money in learning new things because we want to grow and get better every day.
Communities thrive because of collaboration, but many in the music industry are at WAR. They are at war with each other and at war to scrap up the few remaining “good” gigs that are out there.
But frankly, that’s wrong.
When I first started my gigging act, I was scared and didn’t know how to find gigs. Plus, when I did run into one of my competitors, they treated me as an enemy even when I extended the olive branch.
It doesn’t have to be that way because especially after 2021, people are craving experiences that bring people together in an entertaining way. This means that there is an abundance of performance opportunities at private events across the world.
There’s an abundant movement of musicians that are thriving because of collaboration and that’s what makes us #FulltimeMusicians.
