Hey, what's up gigging Pros! It's Jared Judge, welcome to another episode of The Gigging Musician Podcast.
I am in Wisconsin for the week. And if you're a longtime listener, then you know that I moved to Denver from Wisconsin back in September. So we're just up here visiting family. I'm pretty tired.
We had a long day of traveling yesterday. But I'm excited. Because today's episode follows up on yesterday's episode, which was the Facebook ads one, and inside of that episode, I talked about the concept of, if you see a problem, or you, you find a solution to something, then you got to take action on it.
So I see so many people in this world, both just in their regular lives, and in their, their business, and in their music career. And even in the practice room. They get ideas, but then they don't take any action on those ideas.
So what happens is, nothing ever changes. They don't implement those ideas. And then maybe they remain frustrated, that the thing that they were thinking about never changes, then that frustration becomes a bigger problem, and resentment, bruise.
And they just feel like why, why is the situation not changing? So that's the thing is, once you have an idea, or once you see a problem that you could fix, then make it your responsibility to make that happen.
You know, it takes ownership of it. That didn't episode a long time ago about Extreme Ownership, which is a book by Jocko Willink, I think, is his name. He's a former Navy SEAL.
And so he the book is all about taking ownership of everything in your life, everything that comes your way. And know that like, nobody else is taking ownership for your problems. And nobody else is taking ownership of your ideas.
So this is why it's so important that if you have an idea, you have a vision for what the world could be. That doesn't match reality right now. Take the first step of making it that way.
And I know a lot of people think well, you know, I don't know what the path is, I don't even know how I would get from A to B. And that's okay. Like, that's everybody feels that way. Not everybody just instinctively knows the steps 1-312-345-6789.
But you see that you're on step zero. That's where you are right now. And you see the end result. But what you do is you just start taking any action, you if you've got a hunch, like, oh, the problem could be solved through this, then even if you don't know that that's actually true.
You just try it anyway. You know, and this, the world has changed a lot over the last couple of months, especially with ChatGPT. ChatGPT, as you know, is the artificial intelligence chatbot that you can ask questions.
It is not Google, it's not going to be like the end all be all of searching for things. But it does know a lot of things. And it can help you brainstorm, I've actually asked ChatGPT. Like, hey, I'm dealing with this specific problem.
What are some ideas I could do to try to solve it, and it'll list out some problems. So maybe even that's step one, if you're not sure what to do, is ask for some help. And this could be from a resource like ChatGPT, it could be from a mentor.
It could be from YouTube, or the internet, or Wikipedia. And I guess that's the first step is just educate yourself, educate yourself on some possibilities.
And then when you shop through those possibilities, then the next step is choosing one and following its instructions. So that's kind of another step that people get stuck on is, once you have all these options, how do you narrow it down.
And for that, you have to think about it, you have to think about it logically. And then you also have to think about it from a gut visceral reaction, which one of those solutions feels like it has a high possibility of getting you closer to the result that you want.
And so the then next step is literally cutting off all the other possibilities. So don't get stuck in decision fatigue. Don't get stuck in deliberation, choose one and just start taking action on it. Right because that's really all there is to it.
To get into momentum. You have to start the engine. You know when when a car say you want to drive your car from your home to the grocery store. You know, the first step is turning on the ignition aside from you got to get in the car.
So yes, you do have to get in the car that's kind of like deciding which of the possibilities are you going to take and then You have to turn on the ignition, which for the car, that is the thing that takes the most energy is going from off to on taking that first step.
And that's the same with us humans is we just have to get into momentum, we have to put energy towards that first step, and turn on that car. And then once we're there, you know, it's engine is already on, you're already in momentum.
And so now it's easier to take steps two and three and four. In fact, usually, once you complete step one, you are propelled to step two, it's kind of like when you're playing your instrument, you know, once you start playing your first couple notes, you're already you're in momentum you're you're gonna play for for a while.
And it's the same with taking action. The problem though, is I think, that solving business problems, or taking action in other areas of the life of your life, is not as easy or it's not as addictive as playing an instrument.
So it is, it is harder to take that first step, but the first step should get you into momentum. So that you can take steps two, three, and four.
Now, if it's something that is not comfortable to you, or it's something that maybe you find boring, or, you know, you, it's not as I guess, rewarding immediately, you might have to motivate yourself to stay in action, keep taking momentum.
You know, for example, with my Fulltime Music Academy, you know, there are a lot of musicians, like the stuff inside Fulltime Music Academy will immensely help your music career. But a lot of the content and the things that I asked you to do are not in the practice room.
You know, it's a lot of making connections with private event venues and event planners, it might be, you know, like in the last couple of episodes might be turning on some Facebook ads, which means you have to learn how to write an ad, you have to learn how to turn it on.
But all of these are in service of a music career, a thriving music career. And the skills that you get will actually immensely help you in all aspects of your life. I had recently one of our students, Kevin, he wanted to also get some private lessons students.
And through one of the our strategies, we've got a couple students into his studio, and that he then has the possibility of turning those into lifelong students. But all of those actions that we talked about, are not necessarily in the practice room.
So it takes constant motivation, and trusting the process because if you've never really done something like this before, but you see that other people have gotten results with it, you have to know that if you stick with it long enough, you will get the results that you want.
But none of this is possible if you don't take the first step. So that's kind of my, my preaching to you today is that if you see a change in the world that you want, whether it's your own little bubble, or it's changed on a massive scale, none of that is possible.
If you don't take the first step. So take the first step. It'll be okay. You'll be supported along the way. And if there are people who won't support you, they're probably not worth keeping in your life.
Anyway. So we got your back here on The Gigging Musician Podcast, I believe in you and take action. So thanks for tuning in to another episode of The Gigging Musician Podcast. Remember, "You are just one gig away!".
